Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. I used it as written. My sterling silver sugar bowl is better than it has been since I got it in'69. It went slow for 5 minutes then wow! It was perfect. I don't look like such a bad house keeper now! The smell was mild. I did my bowl, 3 spoons and a cake server. I have cabnet full of silver plate i keep behind closed doors. Now they can be moved to the glass door shelves. Thankyou again and for all the reviewser, with out them i wouldn't have tried it.

I had both my mother's and my grandmother's silver plate. I decided to give the sets to my nieces since I rarely have dinner parties anymore. When I opened the silver box, everything was black. What a headache to clean. But I tried this recipe and MAGIC. It took about 1/2 hour to clean and dry all 16 place settings of silverplate. Now I am off to the postoffice.

I have to mention this. I've read that this method is corrosive over time and will wear the silver plating off. I'm buying some antique flatware and may try this as a quick hit but will get a more silver friendly tarnish remover. Oh, the articles also say don't rub the pieces very hard for the very same reason.

I did make a few tweaks - because the tray was large, I filled my turkey roasting pan with boiling water and then set it on the stove over medium-low heat to keep the water hot. I dissolved 1/2 cup each of salt and baking soda in the water then added a sheet of aluminum foil big enough to cover the bottom of the pan and then the tea tray on top. It took about 15 minutes for the tarnish to come off and a soft bristle brush to loosen up the tarnish in the detail. All in all, a very easy process.
